yes, it is a chinese spice mixture.... i buy mine at the local chinese grocery, but here's a recipe to mix it yourself... haven't tried it myself though....
5 teaspoons ground anise (aniseed)
5 teaspoons star anise
2 tablespoons whole cloves
1 (5-inch) cinnamon stick (cassia bark)
7 teaspoons fennel seeds
using a blender, process all ingredients until finely ground. store in an airtight jar up to 3 months.
